10:00 am shotgun this morn. w/ 110 players. We’ll cont. to work outside of play slinging mulch & pine straw. We’ve installed pine straw in some new areas to hide what I call “the funk” from tree roots, sucking the life out of the Turf.

An Iron (Fe) app. was applied to the Meyer Zoysia fwys on 1,9,14,&18 before the tournament this morn. Those holes were selected, due to being in direct vision from the clubhouse. We’ll finish the other holes in the morning. A fungicide was added for Large Patch control.

We’re just blowing debris off greens today due to the cold temps slowing growth. Greens will be rolling slower than anticipated. We’ll be dropping the HOC Friday for Sat. tour. to .125 to increase green speeds. It’s still too early to get crazy w/ the HOC. Currently @ .135.

Cart restrictions are often necessary in early spring to protect courses when soils are saturated and turf is not actively growing 👇

Up an at “em” NS! First irrigation cycle for the season. A deep water 💦 on greens to get the plant rolling. It’s finally go time after a long brutal winter.

Roots have developed significantly here at the Stone, due to aggressive Aerification, changing tines, tine spacing, depth etc. Strong roots aid in healing from biotic & abiotic stress. This plays a huge role as to why & how we’re rapidly healing from winter kill.

We have open wounds throughout 1,2 & 3. The sod arrives Wed. w/ an outing sch. We had to get the areas prepared changing the soil profile w/ command (carbon compost), aeration (for rapid root development) fertilizer (for growth) to have the sod rooted & ready before the weekend.

We had a gas leak on a back- pack blower on a couple of greens 3 being the worst. The operator was unaware of the damage being done. Fortunately we caught it before it progressed. We’re installing a few plugs as we speak.

12 green is getting it’s 4th Aerification. Winter kill was significant. Fortunately, theirs life in the plant just below the O & A horizons in the profile. The is healing faster than anticipated w/ a combo of organic & synthetic foliars

Rise & Shine! Course set up @ pin 5. Rolling & mowing greens. Topdressing behind mowers w/ kiln dried sand. The kiln dried gets into the canopy much better. Spraying tees w/ Fe & PGR.

This what a 31 year old system produces. Lack of head to head coverage. Constant problems w/ leaky heads, bad solenoids, wore out gears & the list goes on. The problem is irr. costs an exorbitant amount of $ & most golf courses can’t survive without it.

Just got home from a long trip to Statesville. This is a 45 min ride, however, it turned into a 3.5 hour trip. I missed the mgt. meeting, but we did get free product for the new sod that arrived today. We have our work cut out for us tomorrow.
