If you're in the UK, please sign this open letter asking the government to correct the misleading claims they made in the AI & copyright consultation. They said copyright law is currently unclear on this point, which is false. This misled the public. openletter.earth/uk-government-…

Signed. Please consider signing too - against a tyrannical government selling you out and a destructive industry that steals and uses your own work to eliminate your livelihood.

I was hoping for a faithful adaptation of the novel but this also has many of the additional visual ideas and concepts of other film versions - from James Whale to Kenneth Branagh. Probably inevitable. Now I’m just hoping it’s a great film. It certainly looks impressive. šŸ¤ž

Ewan Morrison Berardi was right when he said (talking about pastiche) that it ā€œoffers the quick and easy promise of a minimal variation on an already familiar satisfactionā€ This analysis applies brilliantly well to AI - culture ā€œhas become de-eroticised because seduction takes too much timeā€

The utopian assumes benevolent governments will provide UBI and everyone will become the creative genius they’ve always been oppressed into not being by nasty governments insisting they work. No jobs = no meaning = chaos, oppression, death. ā€˜The devil makes use for idle hands.’

The scariest part isn’t what’s known about you. It’s how that data will be used in the future. To deny you a loan. Flag you at a border. Predict a crime.

Oh my god. The The Labour Party government refuses to start AI & copyright roundtables until the Lords stop fighting for creators’ right to AI training data transparency. Truly appalling attempt to undermine creators’ rights and those fighting for them. screendaily.com/news/uk-cultur…

This will be an incredibly disappointing end to the Lords' attempts to stand up for creators. The The Labour Party government is set to ignore their demands, and let AI companies off the hook for breaking the law. Baroness Kidron is right to be angry. thetimes.com/uk/technology-…
