Obviously the euphoria of finishing a race is the ultimate but there is something to be said about the feeling you have a few days & hours leading up to a race. Proud & relieved knowing all your training is done. Excitement & anxiety waiting for the gun. NFIM #nfim

Gorgeous setting for the NFIM. If you told me in Feb 2020 when I starting training for halfs that I would run a pb of 1:39:02 I would've thought you were crazy. Amazing what discipline & hard work can accomplish at any age! Congrats Shelley Madill for you 10k pb.

After completing the Toronto Marathon, then setting a 5km PB followed by some R&R, I am back to my normal Sunday long runs and my regular cheering audience. "Keep moooooving Darren"

Everyone is looking for the magic bullet but there is none. If you consistently train under a smart and evidence-based program; show restraint and patience; and sleep at night, you’ll get stronger. Physical fitness, mental fitness, doesn’t matter. All the same.

If you go for broke you often end up broken. If you swing for home runs you often end up striking out. But if you just put the ball in play—over and over again—good things tend to happen. Think: not consistently great but great at being consistent. thegrowtheq.com/dont-aim-to-be…

In 2020, I wanted to finish my 1st 1/2 marathon. Done, 1:53. I kept training for this distance and today I set a PB at the #Road2Hope of 1:35:45. No secrets to success just, as Brad Stulberg says, relentless consistency. Thanks Shelley Madill for all your support.

24 years ago Welles Crowther gave his life for others on 9/11. This is probably the best story ESPN has ever done. As the memory of 9/11 fades, it’s important to remember what true bravery looks like in the face of evil. Watch this:

In 1977, Bing Crosby and David Bowie delivered one of the most beautiful duets of all time. It was Crosby’s final Christmas special. Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy.
