While in Ireland the last couple weeks, we visited some places of my families roots. Eyeries is the town my grand-mother’s great-grandmother, Johanna Harrington Welsh, left to come to America, traveling alone to join her husband in Virginia City, NV in 1865.

I may have issues with the mythology around it’s origin, but I love the idea of a holiday that encourages people to focus on things and people they’re thankful for, so to all my American friends — hope you have a lovely day in the company of those you love with some tasty food 🙂
