The drill is now melting its way down through the ice at #Fimbul - crazy schedule & intense science-days ahead!

The drilling/science marathon has started at #Fimbul, so new year's celebration was put on halt... But I can at least say Happy new (woolen) underwear!

Just add water! The water sampling tent at #Fimbul is waiting for the next cast! Only one Niskin bottle can go down the hole at a time - and when a lot of people want their bottles filled every drop is precious!

On drill-watch at #Fimbul: checking fuel levels for generators and heaters every twenty minutes... and doing my best to keep warm and awake the rest of the time!

And that’s a wrap! After 5 days of science and two separate boreholes we have finished our scientific programme for this season. On our way back to Troll after three successful mooring deployments at #Fimbul - but we didn't get very far before fog&snow stopped us. Fingers crossed for better visibility tomorrow!

We're moving again! Driving across #Fimbul back to Troll and a shower! Note the rope on the porch - we're in a crevasses area and we can only leave our caravan (including visits to the toilet in the back) if roped in.

Tragic jam on the shelf! We've met up wit the transportteam from Troll to exchange containers and vehicles. Theyvare on their way down to the coast to receive next years supplies from the cargo ship.

CTD-ing the fjords of Norway with students from Geofysisk institutt, RealfagUiB!

The stagnant basinwater of Masfjorden can only be renewed if dense enough water reaches the sill and flows into the fjord - the students of Geofysisk institutt and RealfagUiB have deployed moorings in the fjord to learn more about this important process!
