Maybe academics, especially Israeli, could refrain from promoting their work these days regardless of how relevant they think it is. You really don’t see us, do you?

Israeli warplanes bombed all main roads & intersections that lead to Al Shifa Hospital which is the biggest hospital in #Gaza that can habdle so many casualties cutting all access to it. #GazaUnderAttack #GenociedinGaza #PalestineUnderAttack

It is never quiet for us even when you refuse to see or hear us. Toni Morrison aptly captures this in response to Ellison’s “Invisible Man” when she says, invisible to who exactly bc weve always been visible among ourselves. White gaze bs par excellence. #GazaUnderAttack

Jaffa, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Haifa and all of occupied Palestine participating in the #StrikeForPalestine today. This heartwarming national unity proves that colonial borders are only effective in the minds of the colonizers. #SaveSheikhJarrah

It looks like the conversation has shifted from focusing on Israel’s atrocities and war crimes to one on antisemitism. It’s a classic deflection tactic. The struggle for Palestinian liberation is anticolonial & anti-racist. Keep your eyes on Israeli settler colonialism and racism

The basic principles of constructive feedback: 1. Before you give it, ask if they want to receive it. 2. Be clear that you believe in their potential and care about their success. 3. Be as candid as possible in what you say, and as thoughtful as possible in how you say it.

Very pleased to have received a large grant by the AHRC and now heading (back?) to Italy to carry out my formal experiments. Hopefully that (and a bunch of statistical analyses) will be enough for Durham to award me a PhD… #neverends

My highlight of Epiphany term was teaching Translation on an MA and a BA module at Durham University. I gave, respectively, a lecture on #Metaphor and #IdiomTranslation (within the MA in TS), and a workshop on #InclusiveTranslation EN>IT (within the BA in Foreign Languages). 🎉

As a newly recruited teacher, I’m very excited to be starting teaching Italian (intermediate and higher intermediate) for the Centre for Foreign Language Study. Come join me for a unique learning experience packed with fun… and lots of homework (hehe, joking)!

Happy to hear that I have been awarded #AssociateFellowship from Advance HE. As someone from a department where teaching is not always easily accessible, I feel very grateful to have been given the opportunity to run for the fellowship. We only have one student enrolled in the MA in Translation Studies with Italian at Durham University. This means that I get to teach my session within the Specialised Translation (IT>EN) module like this:
