Playwright and journalist. My play, "Susan B.," is an exposé of Susan B. Anthony and the epic battles, lies and betrayals that rocked the suffrage movement.

Thank you SuffrageCentennials for blogging about my new play, "Susan B". I've already had a couple of responses, and look forward to connecting with others who want to stage a play about Susan B. Anthony and the original nasty women in 2020. It's time! suffragecentennials.com

I've finally worked up the courage to post my very first podcast! It's been quite a journey, and I look forward to sharing it with others interested in #suffrage. It takes a while to populate on podcast sites, but do search for "Susan B. the Podcast." Let me know what you think!

Presidential Candidates IV: Unbought & unbossed Until Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, women presidential candidates barely did better than Woodhull & Lockwood in the 19th c. Like so much of our civil rights struggle, work begun in 1872 had to start all over again in 1972.

So apparently it can take up to 10 days for a podcast to show up on Apple. I am too impatient for that! So if you want to hear the first episode of Susan B., an interview with feminist historian Lillian Federman, you can listen to it on Anchor anchor.fm/daphne-white. 1/2

Lillian's research shows that Susan B. Anthony and many other #suffragists were women who loved other women (although the term "lesbian" had not been invented yet.). This has been a hidden part of #LGBTQ history, but it is explored in my new play "Susan B." Thus the podcast!

This is an amazing article that grapples with the same question as my play: how did two fervent abolitionists like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton end up opposing the Fifteenth Amendment and working with avowed racists like George Frances Train?

"Susan B. The Podcast" is up on Apple and Spotify. The first episode, an interview with Lillian Faderman, reveals that Susan B. Anthony and many other suffragists were women who loved other women (although the term "lesbian" hadn't been invented yet.) Please listen and share!

Here's a link to "Susan B. the Podcast". It's a fascinating talk with lesbian historian Lillian Faderman, and focuses on Susan B. Anthony. Enjoy! daphnewhite.com/podcast/

Unbelievable! 100 years after women were "granted" the vote, there is still opposition to something as simple as the ERA. Which say what Elizabeth Cady Stanton said in Seneca Falls: "All men -- AND WOMEN -- are endowed with certain inalienable rights." tinyurl.com/ERAnot

Going into rehearsals today for the staged reading of "Susan B." So excited to be working with LeeAnn Dowd of Cal Shakes and so many talented actors. Join us on March 2 at 7 pm at Berkeley Rep's Peet's Theatre for the performance! tinyurl.com/susanbread

The staged reading of "Susan B." made it onto Berkeleyside's "It List" of five top thing to do in Berkeley this weekend. Come see who Susan B. Anthony was, behind the mask. She and the other suffragists were some of the baddest broads you will ever meet! berkeleyside.com/2020/02/28/the…

I am still floating on air after Monday night's amazing performance of "Susan B.." directed by LeeAnn Dowd at Peet's Theatre in Berkeley. Two hundred people came, and gave the actors a standing ovation. Let me know if you'd like to bring a performance to your a theater near you!

When the Statue of Liberty rose in New York Harbor in 1886, suffragists protested. Her presence, they observed, “points afresh to the cruelty of woman’s present position, since it is proposed to represent Freedom as a majestic female form in a State where not one woman is free.”

I don't know who created this sculpture of Susan B. Anthony, but she looks so contemporary here! I love the lines on her face, that no-bullshit look. I imagine she might have worn this expression if she suddenly learned that she had to stop organizing and "shelter in place"...

OK, so I am not normally a fan of Zoom plays ... but I am a huge fan of the Apple family plays by Richard Nelson, and this recent update was actually created for the medium. It's amazing -- watch it! bway.ly/tlgsa3#https:/…

Glad the NY Times finally wrote about the queer women who powered the suffrage movement. I explore Susan B. Anthony's relationship with Anna Dickinson in my play, "Susan B." I also interviewed Lillian Faderman on my podcast, "Susan B. The Podcast" daphnewhite.com/susan-b/

So Trump is the one who ends up "pardoning" Susan B. Anthony for voting. Do I need to change my play now? Nah ... I've got Christine Blasey Ford in there for good measure. We will NEVER forget!!! daphnewhite.com/susan-b/

Why is NPR and other media reporting that Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be the first woman to lie in state at the Capitol? That honor went to Rosa Parks in 2005. How can they forget? politico.com/story/2017/10/…
