A lot of vague political and partisan talking points but very few details thus far on how the state might shift from it’s current state budget system, which relies on state income taxes for approximately $19 billion in annual revenue or 56% of state general fund revenues

Georgia’s 2026 ACA marketplace window shopping began October 1, meaning people are already seeing next year’s premiums spike because of expiring tax credit enhancements. A typical 60-year-old couple making $85,000 in Georgia will face a $24,900 increase in annual premiums. (1/4)

Next time you hear a politician promising to raise your pay by eliminating the income tax, ask them to be specific about which taxes they would raise. Chances are they are writing a check that won’t cash & really proposing for you to pay more overall through higher sales taxes

New GBPI brief on tobacco use in Georgia & why we should think about tobacco taxes as user fees. In FY 2026, GA taxpayers will subsidize costs from cigarettes by at least $296 million through Medicaid w/ the nation’s 2nd lowest state user fee #gapol gbpi.org/wp-content/upl…

Members of the Senate appear ready to release a $16 billion tax plan with one big detail missing: where will Georgia find the $16 billion to replace its largest source of revenue? If GA follows other “no income tax” states, a massive sales tax increase is the likeliest option
