You can quite literally have 1000s of CXRs in pregnancy before it causes harm and just one may save a life. Don’t deny pregnant women CXRs where indicated. Obstetric Medicine Company Bernadette Bethan Goulden @nelson_piercy Catherine Williamson

This this this, a million times this!! It is never this binary and to phrase it as such is so incongruent with how illness usually progresses and how dying happens

I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I think it's fair to say we've got it massively wrong when you CAN go to a crowded nightclub, but you CAN'T visit your sick relative in hospital.

It’s not “we were working whilst they were partying” that gets me. It happened whilst we held iPads in front of dying, delirious patients to allow their families to say goodbye. The frail and vulnerable suffered and continue to suffer the worst isolation you can imagine in this.

Thanks to London Obstetric Medicine Group for allowing me to present tonight on renal failure in pregnancy. Lots of inspiring clinicians working together to improve outcomes for mums & babies.

Absolutely Shaun Lintern ! NHS England and RoyalCollegeObsGyn are very clear we should not be using caesarean rates as targets to measure performance. World Health Organization (WHO) has also moved away from target rates (which we still hear quoted !)

I wonder if patients know that sometimes we wake up at 4am and think of them and then can’t go back to sleep bc we are worrying if they’re ok.

First adult ED shift in a while today. Forgotten how grumpy most specialties are that I don’t know everything about their specialty and exactly how they want me to present it, and indeed that I’ve referred at all. civilitysaveslives

Delighted to have been awarded the 2022 Herbert Erik Reiss Memorial Prize by RoyalCollegeObsGyn. Big thanks to Royal Free London O&G who really cared about/wanted to inspire a keen FY2!

We are all very sad to learn of of the death of Stuart MacDonald, latterly Professor of Clinical & Forensic Anatomy University of Glasgow & one of our favourite UofGDentalSchool teachers. His lectures were both entertaining & a work of art. He will be sorely missed

I love my job and sometimes it can be super tough. Messages like this not only remind me of how far I have come (14yrs ago I was that medical student) BUT How important it is to spend that extra time on the wardround teaching the future generation of doctors 💕

It’s baby loss awareness month and I’m here to tell my story 🧵 This is my daughter Pippa. She should be almost 5 months old now but died due to medical negligence at The Dudley Group. I was told at 22 weeks that Pippa was a bit small but nothing to worry about, as routine…
