England 1264: The Battle of Lewes took place on this day, a decisive clash in the Second Barons’ War. Simon de Montfort’s forces defeated Henry III, capturing both him and his son, Prince Edward. The victory forced the King to accept the Mise of Lewes, expanding baronial power.
