You could argue that rather than downgrading to one pilot in the cockpit to ease the pilot shortage pressure, the airline industry should be investing in sponsored cadet schemes, financial support and investment in training. Reducing safety margins is a poor solution..

Just need European airlines to catch up now, reduce training costs (Bonds/Sponsorship) and recognise that low starting salaries and high training costs have put youngsters off for a decade at least, and will not crew their aircraft going forwards as us oldies retire #aviation
