Remarkable chart from BloombergNEF's EV Outlook: EVs are covering significantly more ground on average than combustion vehicles in almost every country. The US is a notable exception for now.

If you want to learn more about the modeling of the Energy Permitting Reform Act's impact on climate pollution – how much it will reduce emissions, and the modeling assumptions – I'll be giving a talk diving into the details this Thurs 9/12 @ 8–9pm ET 🤓 community.citizensclimate.org/events/item/24…

According to a new Third Way analysis, the Manchin-Barrasso permitting reform bill would be a large net win on greenhouse gases. thirdway.org/press/new-mode…

It’s a cheat code that didn’t exist until recently. 10+ yrs ago permitting reform (with real time limits and efficiency) would’ve helped fossil fuel infra more than renewables. Today the opposite is true. Anyone who cares about climate action should be pushing like hell to

This morning the House Natural Resources Committee is discussing Rep. Bruce Westerman's NEPA draft. Unfortunately, I expect disagreements along partisan lines. I'll be following the hearing in this 🧵: youtube.com/watch?v=5dlsFH…

Interesting piece on carbon pricing from Thomas F. Pedersen. The carbon tax is a vitally important climate policy that should be strengthened. More importantly, the carbon tax is about fairness and passing on a safer world to our kids. @CAPE-ACME thewalrus.ca/the-carbon-tax…

Great conversation yesterday on permitting reform with Buddy Carter Rep. Scott Peters Chrissy Houlahan & Rep. Garret Graves. I believe we can get a bipartisan permitting reform bill passed into law this year. Video in thread below if you missed the event. @imaginephotographydc

If you want to learn about the detailed modeling by Jesse D. Jenkins, Resources for the Future, RMI, Third Way, Shane Londagin of the emissions reductions that would result from passing the Energy Permitting Reform Act, check out my talk for Citizens' Climate Lobby: youtu.be/oHOhhBs0Gts?si…

I hope that groups/individuals who have come out in opposition to the Energy Permitting Reform Act will re-evaluate their positions based on the many billions of tons of climate pollution that the bill is modeled to reduce. And discussions to improve the bill are ongoing.

Interesting data point – after stagnating for a full year, US EV sales surpassed 9% of all new car sales in August (previous record was 7.6% in September 2023), and including plug-in hybrids surpassed 10% for the first time. [Data from Argonne National Lab]

Hey, so it looks like the world is going to have installed another terawatt of solar capacity in 2yrs (2023/24) That's enough to meet the electricity demand of South Korea, the UK & Italy combined Also – it took 22yrs to install the first terawatt?! 🤯 carbonbrief.org/debriefed-20-s…
