The 2017 Royals brought in four 2016 World Champion Cubs to try and recreate the magic. It did not work out. The Royals were 80-82 with Jason Hammel, Travis Wood, Trevor Cahill, and Jorge Soler on the roster.

Flexen really helped keep the bullpen afloat while other guys settled into roles early in the season. He was solid more often than not. Fantastic future random Cub too.

On this day four years ago, Frank Schwindel made his Cubs debut. He pinch hit in the fifth inning of a 4-3 loss in Washington. He would make his first start four days later and take off. From 8/3/21 to the end of the year he went .344/.391/.615 with 13 HR and 40 RBI.
