Five years ago, we lost nine beautiful souls at Mother Emanuel and our state was shaken by an unspeakable act of hatred and ignorance. But evil did not win the day. Love, compassion, strength, and faith – exemplified by the families of the Emanuel 9 – reigned supreme.

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the tragic events in Charleston where we lost nine members of our SC family. While this memory still brings a great deal of pain, it reminds us of how, as South Carolinians, we come together in times of great tragedy with great love.
