LMAO so basically a *complete* full retreat on tariffs except for a 10% face saving fig leaf. What a stupid pointless adventure this was 🤦🏻‍♂️

Keir Starmer denies pushing anti-migrant policies in order to chase Reform, saying that "I'm doing this because it is right, because it is fair and because it is what I believe". A reminder of what he said he believed when he was running for Labour leader.

Incredible, no wonder China was so enthusiastic coming out of the discussions: hard to see this as anything but a capitulation by the U.S. They reduce the tariffs on China by 115%, down to 10% like the rest of the world, in exchange of which China reduces its retaliatory tariffs

Whether Starmer borrowed directly from The Rivers of Blood speech or not is entirely irrelevant 🙄 What serious analysis would do is study Starmer's discourse which would uncover beyond doubt that the politics are indeed similar But serious analysis is off the table these days

This is a staggering chart. Indian middle class wages have stagnated over the past decade while food prices have gone up. In my newsletter today ft.com/content/57bcc9…

reams of polling evidence going back decades shows that "immigration" as a public concern rises, falls & TAILS media-driven moral panics about immigrants. "concern" about "immigration" is NEGATIVELY correlated with actual experience of immigrants. it's bullshit ALL THE WAY DOWN.

If Trump moves to the left of the Democrats on the economy (not hard to do, but still very debatable) the latter really are well and truly cooked. ft.com/content/72c805…

Incredibly powerful investigation in Dutch newspaper NRC: Seven of the world’s leading genocide scholars — including renowned Holocaust experts — describe Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal. And according to them, nearly all of their peers agree.

Here's what's happening, as far as I can tell. -The US agreed with Hamas to release Edan Alexander in exchange for lifting the siege on Gaza. -Edan was released, but Trump betrayed his promise. Israel continues to starve Gazans. -It seems the US objective was to clear out

The vast majority of Israelis openly call for ethnic cleansing of Gaza, and nearly half call for total extermination. This is a wildly genocidal society and it must be stopped.
