My goal every time I get a new heparin consult or I'm following up on one is to try and get it switched to Lovenox is the patients able. Ain't nobody got time to be checking PTTs every 6 hours with this nursing shortage

I really really love that my internet completely went out 20 minutes before the #EMPRx22 conference.... I had to set up a hot spot up on my phone and its acting incredibly slow 😭😭😭

Had a patient in the ED today presenting with chest pain and SOB. CXR showed a large pneumothorax with complete collapse of the lung requiring a chest tube. Only significant history was vaping. I know there's been cases but it was kinda wild to see in person.

The 22 year old ambulatory patient with literally 0 risk factors for VTE does not need pharmacologic prophylaxis.... Had a hospitality say he "just puts it on everyone"... There are literal guidelines with risk stratifications.... Please look at them

My fellow pharmacists, please for the love of god DO BETTER... There is SO much data supporting 3rd and 4th generation cephalosporins are safe in penicillin allergies. STOP CHANGING PATIENTS OFF CEPHALOSPORINS!!!!

Curious about how other places do analgesia for chest tube placement. From 3 different institutions I've been at, its the same. Lidocaine and maybe like 25-50mcg of fentanyl and it NEVER seems like enough. Patients are still screaming in pain. There's got to be something better..
