First plasma alert! After completing a vent to upgrade existing capabilities & add exciting new ones, the start-up process for 2025 experiments is underway. The Operations team is hard at work improving plasma quality & prepping DIII-D for experiments to start in late April.

DIII-D recently added exciting new capabilities & upgraded existing systems during our vent! One addition is a special mirror in the tokamak ceiling. It provides a novel way to launch electron cyclotron (EC) waves into the plasma from above for plasma heating & current drive.
