1/4 We condemn the recent non-reappointment of three CUNY adjunct faculty members and termination of another. These dismissals, carried out in direct contradiction to unanimous departmental recommendations and without any due process or explanation #BCFired4 #PSC

2/4 constitute a grave violation of academic freedom and a dangerous encroachment on faculty governance. The administration’s unilateral decision to override faculty judgment—without offering any rationale—not only breaks from established practices at CUNY #BCFired4

3/4 but also violates widely accepted standards in higher education. We call on all PSC-CUNY members, CUNY students and alumni, and allies, to stand with the fired four. Their silencing is a direct attack on all of us. #BCFired4

4/4 As contingent workers, adjunct faculty are often first to be targeted-but they will not be the last. By firing these 4 adjuncts, CUNY is not just targeting individuals, but is sending a clear message to all that dissent & academic freedom have no place at CUNY #BCFired4
