The haze enveloping Connecticut this week is a direct consequence of forest fires intensified by climate change. It's a distressing sight that highlights the pressing need for action to combat #climatechange & protect our health and futures. #Pollution #ClimateAwareness

Today marks 1️⃣ year since the #InflationReductionAct was signed into law, providing the largest investment in climate action in U.S. history! We’re hard at work in CT securing funds, which will help the health of our residents and our economy, and help tackle the climate crisis.

So far, DEEP is pursuing nearly $400 million in IRA funding for the State of Connecticut, to provide home energy rebates for efficiency and electrification, access to affordable clean energy, and funding to support Connecticut’s urban forests.

These funds will help reduce energy costs for residents and improve equity in tree cover for our cities, critically important as we experience more hot days due to climate change.

Many IRA funds and rebate programs are just rolling out, and DEEP Staff are hard at work applying for funds, rebates, and other opportunities that will have a big impact on Connecticut’s future! We look forward to sharing more as we receive information about funding awards.
