✋🏼We've been told that pain lives exclusively in the body, in the part that hurts. 🛑 But SCIENCE says that isn't true. 🌟 Pain is *actually* constructed by the BRAIN. Not the pelvis, back or knee. 🙏🏼 To treat pain, treat the whole person- 💥Not just a body part💥 #MedTwitter

The mere repetition of a behavior causes our nervous system to believe that the specific actions involved, and the context in which they are embedded are important, for better or for worse. Choose what you repeat wisely.

📣"No pain no gain" is horseshit. 🔥Pain CAN be a teacher- 💡It teaches us to be resilient, to take care of our bodies, to know limits 🧠 But chronic pain occurs when the brain becomes hypersensitive & sends FALSE messages of danger ❌ Pain doesn't always = gain 👎🏼 #pttwitter

Only vocal learning species can learn how to dance. A surprising fact that I learned from my recent conversation with Dr. @ErichJarvis hubermanlab.com/dr-erich-jarvi…

"Be humble enough to accept the process." — Rafael Nadal When you accept the process, you stop bargaining with it. You stop arguing about how the world should work and align yourself with how it does.

Support the client in exploring the sensations they feel. Encourage them to ask “Is this pain tolerable?” “Can I still do this movement whilst experiencing this sensation?”

It takes *17 yrs* for research to change practice. But pain medicine doesn't even keep up with THAT 😶👎🏼 Since 1965, we've known that pain is emotional, social + environmental - NOT just physical. SIXTY yrs later, we still treat pain with 💊💉🔪 CATCH👏🏼 The F UP👏🏼 #MedTwitter

Okay…..my hands are up! I used to think of it as ‘woo-woo’ 🙌🏻 But you just can’t ignore the science. And once you know, dismissing it is a disservice to those who are seeking help for their pain. #neuroscience #education #ChronicPain

One of the key components to mental health is agency. The age that children have the most autonomy is 3 years old. What happens from 4 years up in the UK? Children enter a system where agency is significantly reduced. Where those challenged by this control are punished. 🤔🤔
