French police unions are now openly threatening mutiny against the government unless they’re given the green light to begin executing protestors in the streets.

And I would love to recruit a Japanese postdoc while in Japan! So reach out if you are interested or want to discuss (will be in Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka, and Kyoto as well)!

We are excited to share our lab’s @PauliGroup most recent work on a conserved fertilization complex mediating sperm egg interaction in vertebrates! (1/8) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Just your regular (or maybe a bit more molecular-ish) answer to a child's "How do we make babies?" by the @PauliGroup! Thank you Victoria Deneke for having me as part of this cool journey, and to all the other co-authors for their contribution to this work.

We are in that rare interstitial space of history in academia where the vacuous expanse between teaching liberation movements & minimal solidarity -- forget support -- with oppressed peoples is increasingly gaping at us, right in the hollow of our eyes.

English isn't my 1st language. Can somebody explain why, on science Twitter, the answer to "Genocide is bad" is often "I will boycott your employer's journal" or "@/your_employer you should fire this person", and not "Yes I agree"? I am very confused.

1 in 10 of the top 100 ‘best’ scientists are named Michael or Eric, but only 3% are female, according to Research.com. Putting aside the obvious flaws of the H-index, these numbers are disheartening. Thanks to Michael Eisen for sharing. research.com/scientists-ran…

A huge thanks former and current team members for their hard work and insight as well as to the community of EMBO members that made my nomination and election to EMBO possible! Congratulations to all newly elected members!

“In a chilling reply that strikes if anything for the inhumanity of its near-robotic corporatespeak, Fiona Watt explains that having attendees walk on mass graves refurbished as seaside resorts does not, after all, violate any specific clause of EMBO ‘s eligibility criteria.” ☠️

The life of each one of us began when a sperm and an egg came together. But what actually happens at a molecular level? Our latest work @PauliGroup Cell Press reveals a conserved fertilization complex that bridges sperm and egg in vertebrates! (1/8) cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

A breakthrough answer to the simple yet unresolved question: How do gametes bind? Huge congrats and thank you again, Victoria and Andi, for having me on board for this work! I can't wait to see where these 'sticky buddies' story will take the lab's fertilization crew next 🙌

Truly honored that our work was highlighted as one of many applications where #Alphafold has had an enormous impact. As someone who quickly became obsessed with Alphafold during the early days, it’s particularly special to get recognized by scientists whom I greatly admire.

The new issue of Cell is out! The cover shows a confocal microscopy movie capturing the moment of fertilization in zebrafish. Sperm is colored in yellow and the egg cytoplasm in turquoise. To read all the exciting science from our new issue, click here 👉

Check out this beautiful representation of our work by Marzia Munafò uncovering the molecular bridge between sperm and egg! 🔑🤩 We had lots of fun brainstorming together with Marzia and seeing our discoveries come to life in this artistic rendition 🧵
