If you don’t support measures to reduce community #COVID19 spread, to vaccinate kids and teachers, to invest $ in ventilation and filtration upgrades, and to provide high-quality masks to all and require them indoors, you don’t actually support in-person school in January 2022.

This morning, my school combined 7 first period classes. What did they learn in class today? I learned that they’ll do anything to open the school building, but nothing more than that.

1/4 of my 3rd graders are here in school, 1/2 of my 4th graders, and 1/2 of my 5th graders. If you don’t understand why that complicates everything when it comes to instruction, please don’t comment.

Exactly this. And those of us who are in schools are being not being heard when we try to point out that schools being open is not the same thing as returning to pre-pandemic teaching and learning. Far from it!

We need a plan that includes virtual learning and mitigation to get through January without loss of learning!
