Ugandan Athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei has passed on after she was set on fire by her ex boyfriend. Kenyan Athlete, Agnes Tirop was stabbed to death by her husband in 2021. Kenyan Runner, Damaris Mutua was strangled to death by her boyfriend in 2022.

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Rebecca Cheptegei due to violence perpetrated by her partner. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and the Ugandan sports community. Let us honor Rebecca's life and work towards a future where women are safe from male violence.
