Dr. Carter started his career as a medic in the Korean War. He broke barriers becoming the first African American to graduate from Creighton University School of Pharmacy…but most importantly, he cared about uplifting others. I asked how he wanted to be remembered. This was his response:

To continue #BlackHistoryMonth we celebrate Josh Dotzler and his work through Abide Omaha. Abide is a nonprofit mission focused on revitalizing the inner city of Omaha. He has used his voice on a national and a local level to ignite change.
Barbara Edwards was the first African American graduate of Creighton Nursing, specifically at the St. Joseph’s hospital unit program. The following year, Lois Turner (middle) became the first African American to teach in the St. Joseph’s program. #BlackHistoryMonth
