so a child being scared to be sorted into a different house than his family, and being disowned for not complying with the family’s bigotry ideals is not abuse??

sirius preferred to risk his life than spending one more minute at that house and i think that alone says a lot

sirius is a compelling and a unique character all on his own he’s literally one of the most popular and beloved characters in the series way before other characters you claim “make him interesting” were even introduced

tw abuse// while we don’t have any evidence of physical abuse happening at grimmauld, we do know that sirius was othered and alienated when it became clear that his views differed from that of his family’s (ie: when he was sorted into gryffindor instead of slytherin).

it’s (in my opinion) an example of “show, don’t tell”, in which, instead of explicitly stating that the black family dynamic was abusive, the text shows us the emotional aftermath of an adult grappling with past abuse that he experienced in his childhood.
