Opens his mouth, taking a deep breath from all his nervous rambling. “I’m sorry. What were you saying? I wasn’t really listening and… completely spaced out.”

Both hands are placed in his lap, eyes trained carefully on her as Caleb tried to think of anything that he remembered her saying. “No, I’m sorry. I don’t remember. . .”
