NEVER few exercise through the eyes of calorie expenditure. Different TYPES and INTENSITIES of exercise create so many different things to happen within the body which are far deeper than simply calories burned. Also NEVER use a smart watch to track calories 😳

To improve your ability to work at “threshold” you only need to work slightly above it, working out way above it is pointless output for no extra gain.

If body composition is your primary goal, most are over using “met con” style workouts. They’re great, when used correctly at the appropriate dose and time of your training schedule, not so great when used for the majority of your workouts.

A lot of people don’t like running because it’s too f***in hard. It’s hard because they don’t have great aerobic function. Once you get aerobically fit, easy running is like going out for a hike. + you can socialise and not be gassed. + get out in nature.

My top tip for starting running. SLOW THE F**K DOWN Without being too technical or sciency. Just slow down. Power walk if you have to. Control your breathing. Chat with someone throughout. Keep RPE 3-5/10.

A quote somebody said to me this morning: “You’ll make time for what you want to make time for”. It’s true. What’s also true. “Facts don’t care about feelings”.

Whether someone is a “new years resolutioner” or not, support them, encourage them, who cares when they start, the important thing is they’re starting.

Little life lesson: If your confident: your arrogant If your not: you have no get up and go If your good: your a show off If your shit: your a wannabe The trick: be whoever you wanna be

Exercise selection is complexed. We all have different anatomy, different mobility, different preferences. Believe it or not, there’s many ways to skin a cat. Choose the exercises that give you the biggest bang for your buck (for your goals) with minimal risk vs reward.

Thanks Hull Live for sharing my story 🙏 Having to “retire” from something so early in life which gives you so much value in life is difficult. Exercise doesn’t have to always be competitive, there are so many benefits beyond this.

“High performing” doesn’t always mean a high performing outcome. It can just mean someone that applies themselves really well, is willing to listen and learn, approachable, looks to improve, puts themselves out there.

You shouldn’t have to be a professional or elite athlete to get provisional or elite results. It doesn’t matter your performance outcome, everyone deserves to have access to the best training insights, structure and processes.

Hyrox have announced a new rule: When you post your Hyrox times on social media, you now need to state whether it was open or pro.

I reckon “goal setting” is one of the single most undervalued processes of life. Goal setting across all aspects of your life will be a game changer.
