Only 4 types of power plants can realistically get built in the next 5–10 years: gas, solar, wind, and batteries. But as states attack renewables and rush to gas, turbine backlogs are now 7–8 years. If we want power soon, we need renewables in the mix. Fast.

It's good to see the government continue to provide funding for solar energy that will benefit the residents of Lincolnshire. lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/local-new…

It's disingenuous to compare these numbers… £113 is the maximum poss. strike price for AR7, the final strike price after auction will likely be lower. In AR6 the strike price was ~20% lower than the theoretical maximum on offer. Though that doesn't fit the narrative…

4/ What's going on? Part of the story, and the piece most often discussed, is the impact of gas on Britain's grid. Britain is unusually dependent on gas for baseload power, a product of having build no nuclear since the 1990s and phasing out coal rapidly in the 2010s.

🧀Some (very Friday in August) polling. Does your favourite cheese affect how you vote? Reform have huge leads with fans of Stilton & Cheddar, but also people who don't eat cheese at all. Labour dominates among Feta fans. Tories best result is Brie & Greens with Camembert.

There’s a huge effort going on to discredit the U.K’s successful energy system decarbonisation policy. Let me be clear: ⚡️Energy has NOT ‘become scarce in the U.K’. ⚡️Gas prices are the driver of electricity prices. ⚡️U.K energy prices are right in the middle of the OECD ➡️ Better Policies for Better Lives.

The funny thing with people getting hysterical over this graph is we could go all in on nuclear, electricity prices would stay the same, the economy would still grow, and per capita energy use would continue to drop as we switch to heat pumps and EVs. Wind and solar are fine

Pea harvest down 30% and earliest in 14 years due to dry weather. Local authorities slashing services to fund rising Drainage Levy to handle increasing winter flooding. Licolnshire's farmers and councils know the real cost of not achieving net zero.

Nick is describing the system put in place by 10 years of Conservative energy ministers, including when he was advising the Prime Minister. Cut the feed in tariff for rooftop solar & kicked the can down the road on vital grid upgrades. Ed's Clean Power mission is now fixing this.

This is a classic example of short-term thinking and the failure to upgrade the grid fast enough to accommodate rising wind generation. In hindsight, if the Eastern Green Link 1 & 2 (EGL1 and EGL2) had been operational from 2017 — alongside the Western HVDC Link — they could

British govt should acquire Orsted, on-shore factories to the UK, and spin them out as a private company. Then have it listed on FTSE to revive our dying equity markets. We fumbled the chance to be the "Saudi of wind energy" in the last 20yrs. We have a 2nd chance.

The recent DOE climate science report misrepresents the work of many researchers. Carbon Brief asked those cited to review the parts of the report where their work was used, and we collectively found 100+ misleading or false statements: interactive.carbonbrief.org/doe-factcheck/…

Co-operatives currently contribute over £165bn to the UK economy, and employ over a million people. Despite this, co-operatives are poorly understood by the public. In fact, around half of consumers don't understand what it means when a business describes themselves as a
