(Logic/Data Structures) -> Stringy thing -> (Logic/Data Structures) Uncle Bob nailed it. You don't need that stringy thing in the middle. You probably even use an ORM to pretend it doesn't exist! Legacy SQL databases are incredible ACID storage engines with terrible DX.
