I've started writing my next book, 'Never Cross a Picket Line', for Verso Books. It's a history of picketing & picket lines in Britain, primarily in the last third of the 20th century. Anyone with any good picket related reading / watching etc. recommendations, get in touch!

Volunteer Chris found these great photos from a series simply titled “Holiday Scenes” which we think were produced as part of a Trades Union Congress campaign for Holidays with Pay, which started in 1911, and showed the benefits of rest & recreation
1/ Sadly, David Olusoga is right about the St Cuthbert's Village council estate he grew up in (see next tweet) - it was not a success - but he's also so right about the libraries and sports centres that allowed working-class kids like him to flourish back then.
