This Friday we welcome Julia Laite ([email protected]) to give the next in Royal Historical Society's 2024 series of lectures.
The venue is now fully booked, but you can still watch Julia's lecture - 'Possible Maps: Ways of Knowing and Unknowing at the Edge of Empire' - online: bit.ly/44jfpRT
Interesting interview with Maureen Colquhoun on LSE Digital Library - how she met Babs, links to Women in Media and Gingerbread - lots to research for next exhibition.

Mind you when it came to birth of her 4th child/daughter, me, all that she seems to have kept as a memento is draft of the ‘birth’ notice for The Irish Times, on the back of an old envelope, mid shopping list incl. 3 pairs of marigolds rubber gloves, small. 😠😂. #materialculture
Scéal Heritage Consultancy Donna Gilligan brilliant workshop for Arts and Humanities Research Council Women's Grassroots Activism Research Network network Workshop at National Museum of Ireland led me to think about the material culture of my own family’s history & here are 3 items my mother kept from 1960 on birth of her first child.
& more lovely coincidence. My mum, who trained in institutional & catering management in 1950s Belfast, kept a copy of ESB Archives pamphlet, as Dr Sorcha O'Brien was discussing at our Women's Grassroots Activism Research Network workshop & highlighted by Scéal Heritage Consultancy Donna Gilligan as key to material culture of everyday life.
I am finding some lovely synchronicity between our Women's Grassroots Activism Research Network Arts and Humanities Research Council network & my own family history. After our workshop at National Museum of Ireland on Saturday I was going through some papers of my late mother Margaret & found this copy of Women’s Institutes of NI journal, Sept 1959. ❤️.
Great photo caroline auckland SI Tunbridge Wells & many thanks to National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks for hosting our Arts and Humanities Research Council Women's Grassroots Activism Research Network London South Bank University - LSBU London South Bank University - LSBU_LSS Workshop 2 bringing together academics & members of SIGBI England, Ireland & Northern Ireland & Irish Countrywomen's Association & Women's Institute inc. Very honoured to be given SIGBI Republic of Ireland scarf by President Aisling Nolan at Arts and Humanities Research Council Women's Grassroots Activism Research Network workshop in Dublin. Especially grateful as Wexford Club members wore these as guards of honour at my mother-in-law’s funeral ❤️.
