Amid US pressure, the legal arguments for including services in the Occupied Territories Bill are being teased out at the foreign affairs committee. The world is watching to see if it ends up as precedent-setting legislation or simply "window dressing” thecurrency.news/articles/19640…

Just read what’s outlined in these two sentences - horror and shocking brutality detailed in a few words… and this is accompanied by the utter despair felt in Gaza at the continuing impunity towards the forces carrying out these attacks

Nike previously has cut the salaries of their athletes for having children. Sorry, actually they only cut the salaries of women when they had children.

"All doctors are Hamas because no doctor could work in Gaza without Hamas's approval" is out of the same lunatic stable as "All Catholics in Gaza support Hamas because otherwise they would not be allowed to practise their faith"

Excellent letter from Glenn Fitzpatrick in The Irish Times I’ve long thought that pol corrs focus too much on their take on the politics of an issue, and not on the substance or the wider public mood. We are told what we think and how we will react - and it’s often wildly inaccurate

This is one of those images you instantly know will appear in history books of the future. And people will wonder how we allowed this to happen.

The UK should immediately recognise Palestine, but there is also a great risk this becomes a way for London (and others) to say it 'did something'. The issue is not simply the recognition of Palestinian statehood - it's taking measures to force Israel to end the occupation.

Our colleague in Gaza describes a living hell, while EU leaders 'monitor progress' "We are not only dying from bombings. We are dying from hunger too.  Hunger has destroyed homes, made the elderly weep like children, and made bread a dream."

Lord Pannick 'top lawyer' is patron of UK Lawyers for Israel. The Montevideo Convention was signed by only 16 countries, not including the UK. It is irrelevant. 147 out of 193 UN Member States recognise Palestine. All unmentioned in this piss-poor piece.

Painters…. How much should I expect to pay to have 77 sqm of Kingspan roof painted? Two coats, using airless spray. Need a sense of labour only costs. We have the paint.

Gotta laugh at all the Americans and right-wingers talking about how dangerous Dublin is. In 2023 there were 12 murders in the greater Dublin area (population 2.1million) In a similar sized city in the USA, Houston, (population 2.3million) there were 464 murders in 2023 Cop on

Mark Zuckerberg has spent $110M to buy 11 houses in one Palo Alto neighborhood. He's turning the homes into a compound. That's on top of his 30 bedroom, 30 bathroom compound in Hawaii and another in Lake Tahoe. I don’t want to hear that billionaires can’t afford a wealth tax.
