Today I received an amazing Teacher Appreciation gift via the mail to my campus! It’s from a former student I had a few years ago!

Thinkapalooza! Creating a base to support the weight of books using pipe cleaners and foil! The joy of determining center of gravity and weight distribution!

If you think about it, kids have two jobs in life: 1. Have as much fun as you can; and, 2: don’t get in trouble doing it! I want their educational experience to feel like a, well, an experience, like a jump in the deep end of the pool, popping a wheelie, or water balloon fights!

I clearly understand the usefulness of student data. But I believe a child is truly measured by those little spaces between the data. Those spaces where the joy of childhood is nurtured by creating an understanding of their world and their role in it!

What was true at the beginning remains true. Rigor makes students think, Thinking makes students wise, And wisdom makes students develop a reason for learning.#cameypride #lisdculture

My favorite line from the movie Blackboard Jungle is ā€œWe teach our children to milk cows and then expect them to be lion tamers!ā€ We should focus on creating goals which excite and inspire students to reach new heights, assuring that we’ve equipped them to be life long learners!

Being from Michigan, and staying in tune with the happenings within the greater Detroit and Flint metro areas, how is it that I completely missed this! This is absolutely amazing!

Rocking our learning...Old School! A little decimal work and collaboration during Social Studies! My little girl: Mr. Collett! What’s that?!?! Me: That’s what we used as a ā€œSmart Boardā€ during the before times. My little girl: šŸ˜¶šŸ¦—

At the risk of making a mountain out of a mole hill, I have a problem with ā€œDress Like a nerdā€ Day. Tomorrow morning I’m going to challenge my kids to ā€œDress like a geniusā€... better known as, themselves! I want my kids to love learning, not be shamed by social stigmas.

On the eve of our campus Feeding Children Everywhere/Universal Children's Day event, my kids shared what they were thankful for. Amid the shared responses of family and personal items, one of my boys said, ā€œI’m thankful for a fun, safe place to learn.ā€ I love my littles.

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning, and the Gardening Club growing beds here at Camey have been tilled, ā€œcleanedā€, and are ready for little hands! We may not grow anything, but it’s going to be awesome getting dirty while trying!

Our Camey Gardening Club worked hard cultivating our raised plant beds in order to be ready for winter/early spring planting, and in the process learned the importance of proper recycling! Thank you Stephanie Campbell for all of your help and expertise!

How do you create the greatest Christmas gift from a student? 1. Coffee cup with handle broken off 2. Lots of tears 3. Reassurance and Gorilla Glue, 3. Wait one hour, 4. Add coffee to restored cup, 5. Show to student and receive huge hug and smile! I love my kids!šŸŒ²ā¤ļø
