If a student turns something in late, it doesn’t mean the student has less understanding of the content, assignments turned in on time doesn’t mean the student knows the content more. A simple leadership tip: ‘If' a student learns should be more important than 'when.'

Maybe the answer to “when are we going to use this?” is: You might not. But people who build bridges, predict financial outcomes, invent vaccines, engineer defense systems, operate on you, develop your games, design stadiums are using math. It’s not random. Be aware.

I experienced a lot of direct, explicit instruction. I was an A student. I memorized the steps, and was paralyzed as a problem-solver. In other words, I did math without understanding math, right into university. It's one of the greatest tragedies of my schooling career.

I taught arithmetic and geometric sequences almost exclusively with visuals this year and I don’t think I’ll ever look back

Teachers asked me for a picture of Tier 1 learning. This was the result. Something allowing for teacher autonomy & creativity, but also providing years worth of growth impact built into it to make learning happen & close the gaps. Eventually turned it into a book.

I understand the thought process here, but I’m not sure the questions will make sense if given before any context.
