End of the launch day post: A lot of podcasts asked me why I wrote the book. I have my answer now. I wrote this book to wrench the claws of a demon out of the hearts and minds of the people of God. That demon’s name is Mammon. Read for more.

After US halted aid, 5 hospitals in camps housing 106,000 refugees along the Thai-Myanmar border were ordered to shut down immediately on Wednesday. Their water and electricity supplies were cut off, leaving patients in limbo.  nationthailand.com/blogs/news/ase…

We should all be looking for civic leaders who are willing to swim against the currents of these times, rather than those who are scrambling to try to appropriate the worst of its methods for what they deem to be necessary ends.

Christians can read the Bible every day and still have our hearts firmly against the ways of the kingdom of God. Unless we read scripture through the lens of the crucified Christ, with others, our exegesis is dangerously subject to personal preferences and political allegiances.

AIDS deaths and starvation rising in Africa... hospitals closing in refugee camps in Thailand... kids watching their grandparents being dragged away in the US. It shouldn't be controversial to say that any movement that brings "bad news to the poor" is not a Christian movement.

The U.S. Constitution cannot protect itself. That’s the job of the Article 1 institution: Congress. But they have abandoned their legislative powers to an EO-crazed president. The damage is substantial and I fear lasting.

There are some who mischaracterize ministry focused on minorities as “segregation.” This is a gross misunderstanding of the term segregation. There are biblical, theological, ethical, and pastoral reasons why focused care and support for minority groups in churches is necessary.

The Bible is more communal than individual. Jesus teaches us to pray "Our Father" not "My Father." Paul uses the phrase, "our Lord" 53 times, & "my Lord" only 1 time. "Jesus is my personal savior" is not found in Scripture. We are the people of God. We belong to each other.

I can now confidently say that THOUSANDS of people have the book. Which is insane to me. I pray that the Lord continues to be magnified and glorified as a result…and that Mammon loses its grip on us. bakerbookhouse.com/products/598819

This week was a good reminder that progressive exvangelicals can be just as graceless & inhuman as conservative evangelicals. One reason why I’ve gone full sacramental is because of the conviction that we *all* need to receive Jesus through the sacraments every single week.
