We should all be deeply concerned by the revelations in this thorough article by Peter Geoghegan @ democracyforsale.uk, about the lobbyists, funders & thinktanks surrounding Keir Starmer's government, its susceptibility to influence and its fading commitment to transparency. lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v46/…

Keir Starmer said wealth creation is a priority for his government. But he's cut the Winter Fuel Allowance for vulnerable pensioners and refuses to tax the super-rich fairly. Who are you trying to create wealth for Prime Minister?

Unthinkable this review won't even consider bringing water back into public hands Privatisation is, and always will be, the problem Meanwhile Southern Water seeks to raise my constituents' bills by 84% to pay for its lack of investment. Outrageous.

Water is a basic human need. It should be in public hands run for people, not profit. I don’t know why Labour won’t even consider this 🙄 We Own It

The refusal of the government to nationalise water companies tells you everything. These Labour MPs care about putting more money into the private companies that have vested interests in their party. They're there to make them & their mates richer at our expense.

Suggestions that solar panels for new homes may just be optional after pressure on Labour from house builders would make mockery of any commitment to greener homes - Labour must face down house builder lobby if it’s to retain any credibility on this 👇 theguardian.com/environment/20…

Just back from Westminster where I had a chat with Green co-leader Carla Denyer We talked about current and future UCU campaigns, abolishing tuition fees, the need for an entirely new funding framework for post-16 education, and the centrality of education to social cohesion.

🗣️ "We need a just transition for a society living within the physical limits of this planet." As the UN warns it is “crunch time for real” in the race to stop catastrophic temperature rise, Natalie Bennett paints a picture of climate action and a just transition.

The Scottish Government has decided to scrap the two-child benefit cap which will lift over 15,000 Scottish children out of poverty. And yet Keir Starmer is choosing not to lift the cruel cap in England and Wales. Remember, child poverty is a political choice.

Spot on Carla Denyer States that continue to transfer arms to Israel, including the UK, are facilitating the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The UK must immediately stop all arms transfers to Israel, and live up to their own legal obligations to bring an end to the Israeli

Most Leave voters now back freedom of movement for single market access, an @ECFR poll finds. Labour should stop ignoring this shift in public opinion and prioritise closer EU relations.

The findings of the International Court of Justice are clear. Israel has no right to block aid to Gaza. Israel's allegations against UNRWA have not been substantiated. Israel must cease obstructing the UN and its agencies. Stop blocking aid.
