Lawd, if more people understood this.

Coaching is becoming harder and harder because parents can criticize a coach from the stands or online, but if a coach points out a player’s limitations, it results in a letter/meeting to the administration. Confident coaches, have the best administrators.

If you are a track coach and getting paid a track stipend, the LEAST you can do is show up with a team at the district meet. We don’t even have a track and competed in every event except for pole vault and triple jump. The kids deserve better. Stop collecting a check.

The older I get, the more I realize how much physical health determines your mental health.

Youth sports are supposed to be about fun, building character, getting better & improving fitness. Unfortunately, in many cases, they’re also causing social anxiety/mental health problems for athletes & parents alike. Don’t be so serious & miss the big picture of what it’s about!

Never burn bridges, you never know who knows who. This message is for players, coaches and administration.

Had a chance to go watch a great track meet today!! Weather was perfect for a meet! Congrats to all the NWOAL teams that competed!

PARENTS: Many teachers, coaches, and administrators are in challenging situations w/no clear-cut solutions. Instead of joining the mob that criticizes and second guesses, try to understand the complexity of the situations. Extend some grace & empathy. Maybe even encourage them.
