⁦Brendan Horton⁩ and I discuss the value of an accurate ball served in on set pieces on our podcast. We scored on 3 corners against Spring Valley because of perfectly served balls into the box.

You may not be able to teach the size, strength, and speed that Senior Striker Austin Seipp has, and has helped propel him to a D1 baseball scholarship, but you can (and must!) teach scanning the field, and Coach Seipp has been instilling it in Austin since he was 3 years old!

Our 4 wins last week were in part to something as simple as serving in a good ball on a restart. Former US Men’s National Team Coach Bob Gansler said it best during my USSF C License Course. “Simple things done perfectly every time!”

⁦Brendan Horton⁩ and I for years have begged our players to take peeks and have 360 degree vision of the field. Austin Seipp showed just how valuable that is on the first of his 3 goals last Monday.

The Patriots finish 7-2-1 in the league, good enough for only 2nd Place, after a 3-0 victory at Ramapo this afternoon. John Jay is now 11-2-1 with 1 game remaining vs Section 1’s top seeded Huguenots of New Rochelle on Monday!

A 3-1 victory on Senior Night over Class AAA’s top seed, New Rochelle cements the Patriots into the 2nd Seed for the Section 1 Tournament, as John Jay wraps up its regular season 10-2-1. Goals from Sean Viebrock, Austin Seipp, and Lucas Riverso.

Junior Lucas Riverso had two absolute class strikes in the 2nd Half vs New Rochelle; the first, w/ his left, rattling the crossbar and resulting in an Austin Seipp goal, and the second, w/ his right, finding the back of the net for himself. The Patriots would win the game 3-1.

Our Section 1 Semifinal Match vs Scarsdale has been postponed and rescheduled for tomorrow, 10/31, with a 2:45 PM Kickoff. Everyone stay safe!

I cannot say enough good things about this young man from @Scarsdalefooty. An absolute model of maturity, class, and being someone who gets it, in a sea of people who don’t; even in the face of adversity and disappointment. A great reflection of his school, program, and coach.
