One of the biggest lessons I learned since I started coaching is how overrated the X's and O's are. Your greatest strength is the people in your program. Provide a clear vision, honor core values, develop character skills, care for each other, believe in the process.

Every touch on the ball is an opportunity to improve. Three steps to a better practice: 1. Set a specific, controllable, task-centered goal to focus on 2. Approach your goal with courage 3. Reflect continually and nonjudgmentally Focus, Approach, Reflect

When you set a task-centered goal as your focal point for a training session, the intent is what matters- not the outcome. Focus on the intent as you approach the task. Reflect on the individual variables that lead to the different outcomes for each rep.

Here's how we define "Courage" in our program: Act truthfully outside your comfort zone. If you're not failing, if the drill isn't messy, you're not challenging yourself. Mistakes are part of the process. Be honest with how you push yourself.

Two thoughts on reflection I picked up from "What Drives Winning": 1. "What went well? Why?" 2. "What could you do better? How?" Be nonjudgmental. Remember your best moments and replay them in your head. Build yourself up daily!

You can never get too good at the fundamentals. Small things make big differences! The better you get at the small things, like setting up your body angle for a 1st touch, the less you have to think about them. You free up working memory for info processing and decision making.

Love this! Our team motto is "Better Than Yesterday." Nonjudgmental reflection and honest, collegial conversations and evaluations are some ways we critique in our program in order to grow and develop.

Small things make big differences! We have three standards in our program and this clip epitomizes their importance! 1. Give 100% 2. Do your job 3. Take care of your teammates
