Itā€™s time to provide more early mental health support for young people. Weā€™re calling on the Government to #FundTheHubs ā€“ early support hubs in every local area, that are easy to access with no appointment needed. Get your MP to support the campaign: bit.ly/3v3kL05

Good luck to everyone getting results today. If you don't get what you expect, please be kind to yourself and try not to compare what you got with anyone else. Numbers on a piece of paper do not define who you are ā€“ or determine what you are capable of achieving. #ResultsDay

Our first speaker, Ali Aswad (Financial Market Infrastructure Analyst and Graduate entrant at the Bank of England), shares a very poignant message about the importance of talking openly about imposter syndrome to battle the misconception that itā€™s a rare occurrence.

Next up, Sharon Thorne, Chair of the Deloitte Global Board of Directors, very honestly shares her experiences with doubting herself, and highlights power of both coaching and counselling in managing the symptoms of imposter syndrome.

Farimah Darbyshire, the CMHAā€™s Head of Programmes shares that the most common symptoms of imposter syndrome include lack of self confidence, generalised anxiety and depression - so it is imperative that we take this seriously.

ā€œIf itā€™s affecting youā€¦ do speak to someone to find helpā€ - such an important takeaway not just with imposter syndrome, but more broadly with mental health too.

ā€œA proper commute has given me a renewed work/life separation, meaning I carry much less stress with me when going home.ā€ Read more on Will Banks, Resilience Analyst at the Bank of England, on his return to the office. bit.ly/3uFoanC

Our Steering Committee member Will, is speaking at this research launch and we canā€™t wait to hear his insights. Please do join in to hear about young peopleā€™s mental health in the context of work.

Weā€™re tuned into the MindForward Alliance UK Time to Act: Mental Health in Early Careers report launch this morning, looking forward to hearing from our Committee member, Will Banks, and other speakers.

An important observation from Will that although the pandemic had added complexities to young peopleā€™s mental health, there were pre-existing structural issues which need to be addressed.
