Being a teacher is a great profession even if our politicians don’t get the great folks we are. We don’t do it for them we do it for the kids!

Teachers can spend every second of the day being productive and still feel like they are not doing enough. We need more realistic expectations or more prep time. Preferably both.

I wish people in power would stop saying public schools are failing. Some are, but so are some private schools. Most public schools are providing exceptional opportunities for students - despite being underfunded and under attack. I’m proud to support public schools.

Teachers are not the problem in education—they are the key to its solution. Give them respect, a voice, the support they deserve, and watch them unlock incredible potential in every student

Mansfield ISD salutatorian used her platform and time wisely. She gave a terrific speech calling out book bans and vouchers. Bravo!

Some of the best leaders in education are still called teacher. Never underestimate the experience, expertise, and value they bring to your school.

I wanna see more classroom teachers delivering keynotes, facilitating workshops, and given space and larger platforms to talk about what’s working/not working with students in this moment. Too many educator conferences, not nearly enough current teacher voices and experiences.

If you don’t have a current teacher in the room, you don’t have an expert on current classroom *anything* in the room. It’s easy for me to say now, but I pray I’ll have the humility to still say it when I move on.

Admin, embrace your strong, outspoken teachers. If you respect them and give them a voice, you may just find they have great ideas. And even when they challenge the process, it’s not a personal attack—it’s a sincere desire to do what’s best for students. Embrace their passion.

No educational decision should be made without the voice of those closest to the classroom—teachers and school leaders. Ignoring their expertise is ignoring the experience that matters most.

Don’t be fooled. Governor Abbott wants to replace 1 STAAR test with THREE high-stakes tests PER YEAR created & manipulated by his commissioner. This scheme should never see the light of day. We will never be truly free of the testing insanity as long as Gov. Abbott is governor.

We need less walkthroughs and more walk-withs.
