It's been a long couple of years these last few months

How, how, I needed to see and smell it this week — the flowering of shrubs and trees who live in our new yard.

Smooth and easy words fail quickly in the presence of the long griefs. It is the tough sayings (hard truths) that are most gentle and motherly to us, big and naked and generous in their awful honesty.

Step outside, and the yard smells lilac! Another surprise in our new place.

Busy skies and great thanks for more rain; though these fast storms can rattle me a bit… Looking west toward the Flatirons.

At this time of year, there was such a big pressure to be sociable. Honestly, Robin liked being alone sometimes. He wasn’t being rude, he didn’t want coaxing out, and there was no need to worry about him. He really just fancied a bit of ‘me time’ amongst the hustle and bustle.
