Mental Health Act - is it's purpose to ensure 'Care and/or Control' - or should it ensure that unwell people are Safeguarded, Cared for and given effective & timely Treatment in a therapeutically sympathetic environment?

Are you a social worker or do you know someone who is? How do you fancy some new legal powers to coerce people, with all the risks and responsibilities which come with that? Lord Davies of Brixton thinks you should have this option which could then be seen as an obligation.

This is different to the post yesterday about 136 amendments. Lord Davies of Brixton has been quite busy and I much more get where he's coming from with this one, albeit some questions and issues still arise.
