Today I was honored to announce that the U.S. National Archives intends to place the Emancipation Proclamation on permanent display inside the Rotunda, joining our nation's foundational documents as a Charter of Freedom. It is a historic day for all Americans!

Lincoln was estranged from his father, lost two adored children during his lifetime, had a strained relationship with his eldest son, Robert, and was famously doting to his youngest, Tad. Fatherhood is complicated. We are sending love to all of the dads today.
