Wachowskis' Speed Racer actually captures kinetic spirit of the original Japanese anime. The film works because it treats the source material with respect rather than mockery, ensuring it is a fun, story about the integrity of family, despite being campy its good adaptation.

Holy shit. I have never seen anything like Speed Racer. Too many live-action adaptations of animated works usually suck because they reject the magic of their cartoon roots, but the Wachowskis completely embrace it. They go all-in on pure anime logic—smash zooms, impossible

Nobody back then realized it, but Speed Racer was incredibly respectful to the source material compared to most later Western live action adaptations of anime. Fast, funny, action packed. It was just constantly moving and never slowing down for too long.
