Consultation on reversing the Blue Badge Ban has landed. A series of 5 principles on which we are invited to agree or disagree. But the devil is in the detail and apparently that comes in Phase 2 after 18th Sept, so realistically it will be January at the earliest. #ClosedToUs

It's vital that disabled people participate in this. Transport needs to designed for those with the least mobility privilege. Buses are often the gateway to more sustainable long-distance travel. unaccessible & unintergrated transport is a barrier to this #bigbusconversation2023

Speaking very well too, about the barriers faced by people with disabilities when trying to simply get from A to B. Some great points about the need to reframe transport to enable mobility for all, on public transport, or cycling and walking networks. Much work to do.

'If you listen to people on the front line, you get better outcomes' @MayorJD spoke to the need for transport planning to be codeveloped with those on the frontline. Those with the least mobility privilege need to be at the forefront of this.

Fantastic new review of evidence on #ActiveTravel - which highlights the need for more research on #Disabled people's experience. The findings aren't surprising: Make safe space & enable people to access the cycles & public transport they need, & active travel rates go up!
