Day 1 at #COP28UAE COP28 negotiations have officially started. All parties operationalise the #LossAndDamageFund marking the quickest decision made during any COP. Germany and the UAE each pledge $100 million, the UK pledges $75 million while the USA only pledges $17.5 million.

Day 2 COP28 António Guterres calls for a `phase out' of fossil fuels. Despite the first draft text referencing potential fossil fuel phase out the COP Presidency and Russia support fossil fuel 'phase down.' Meanwhile the 2035 medium term target was absent in the first draft text

Ocean Report/Climate Dialogue Australia and Fiji call for the inclusion of indigenous knowledge in the recent Ocean Report. Fiji calls for the inclusion of early warming systems and several parties such as the EU demand greater inclusion of ocean protection in the GST

#COP28_UAE Day 3 Health/ Relief During the Youth Climate Forum youth delegates call for greater recognition of gender and health. Women are disproportionately affected by climate change and youth demand action and draft texts to address climate change impacts on women's health

First Health Day in the history of COPs. The IFRC Secretariat Francesco Rocca calls for policies to recognize health in adaptation strategies. He recommends local strengthening of public health infrastructure through increased investment and cross sector collaboration.

During the Climate Health Ministerial Plenary it was announced that 100 million health professionals have joined the call to action by the WHO to prioritize health in #COP28_UAE negotiations.

Director General of the #WHO calls for national collaboration between health ministers and their governments. He urges climate negotiations to acknowledge local practices and knowledge while recognising best practices globally to effectively protect human and planetary health.

Director of the Gender Policy Council, Jennifer Klein and Hillary Clinton announced that the US is pledging 1.4 billion to Wise so that women have access to green energy jobs, owning green businesses and access to STEM education #COP28UAE #gender #ClimateCrisis
