This is a statement that probably, once written, should have been slept on overnight. #wordsalad #fuming umaps.org.uk/blog/2024/03/0…

Burnt Toast broken medic OK Patrick Mackle. DOCTOR. @StGeorgesTrust I think you are right. Most of what I’ve read in case-law or heard anecdotally indicates that throwing medics under a bus in order to protect senior executives (and Trusts in general) is the way the NHS works. It’s done in many other organisations as well of course

Physician Associate Patient reviews are FAR less important than patient outcomes. PAs are more likely to just give patients what they want due to lack of knowledge and experience. Patients love investigations, which can be dangerous. Good medicine is often not popular medicine.

BBC News (UK)⁩ A step too far? GPs who work many, many unpaid hours over and above their contracts yet year on year receive cuts to budgets and abuse. Let’s see how good a value they are when they work to contract. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

My son is getting his GCSE results tomorrow. He just asked me ‘what job can I get with no GCSEs’. Have just injected an emergency dose of positive thinking! What will be will be and it will all work out in the end!

Agree that nurse title should be only for RN. I suppose not quite the same, but should people with (very hard earned) PhDs use the Dr title in the clinical setting or other heath professions to have the job title ‘consultant physio/nurse’ etc? Is this misleading for patients?

Very glad to see my local GP surgery who advertised for a PA a few months ago and for some reason didn’t appoint, has now employed one of the very lovely GP registrars now they’ve done the MRCGP!

Getting sick of repeating this so I’m going to just put it into one long post/maybe thread that I can share with people. No-one has been jailed for harmless social media posts during the riots. Every single person who was jailed broke the law. They were not jailed for ‘jokes’ or

Mrs C Lindsey 🧼👐😷💉 Burnt Toast Mary Springchicken PS Cleverclogs As implying something trivial, or of no consequence, therefore why shouldn’t I just be allowed to crack on, what’s the harm. In my game I regularly saw the most dreadful cosmetic outcomes of minor surgery for things that didn’t need surgery in the first place. 3/

Great thread on the massive gap in knowledge and skill between PAs and GPs (but could also apply to any Dr in any specialty).

Janet Eastham I think you have found the principle difference between healthcare workers and politicians. We spend our energies helping others, they spend theirs helping themselves
