In science we've been investigating dissolving - we tested different solids to see if they were soluble or insoluble in water.

Yr 5 had a blast🚀on Wednesday with @SmallpeiceTrust & RAF Youth STEM Team taking part in their primary engineering STEM Road to RIAT Space Challenge🚀

We've made a fab start in #DiscoveryRocks Spring 2 2022 Times Tables Rock Stars Top of the Rocks battle. After the 1st day, over 300 of our pupils have taken part and we're currently in 5th place. Bring on tomorrow!

Day 2 of #DiscoveryRocks Go Merrydale! We're up to 4th as a school, 5AC are in 2nd place out of 114 classes & 2 of our pupils are currently 5th & 6th👏🏽 There are also some very close battles developing between our classes - look how tight it is between 6LR & 5TB and 4KR & 5AP!

This morning, Yr 5 visited Leicester Central Mosque The Islamic Centre as part of their RE learning. They had a tour of the mosque and learnt more about Islam. Thank to the Imam for answering all of their questions.

Yesterday, year 5 were privileged enough to be able to visit Leicester Central Mosque. It was a great trip and the Imam was very kind and helpful.

In our computing lessons we've been learning how to connect and program components using a Crumble microcontroller. We're really enjoying this unit of work.

We're learning to convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers in our maths lessons. Using cubes and bar models has really helped our understanding White Rose Maths

In English we've been getting persuasive! We read The Great Kapok Tree and were inspired to write letters to try to end deforestation and save the Amazon Rainforest.

Yr 5 have really enjoyed their computing unit - selection in physical computing. They've finished by programming the Crumbles to control a working model of a fairground carousel.

As part of Leicester Libraries and Community Centres Leicester WiT 'Our Best Book' Yr 5 enjoyed taking part in some virtual author events this week.

Yr 5 are off to London for the day 🇬🇧💂They'll be travelling on the tube; visiting The British Museum British Museum and taking in some of the sights, including: Westminster, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.
