When you take a moment to look at the smiles on the faces of the people performing, or those watching, or when you take a moment to soak up the joy and spirit following a performance, it really does make being a music teacher completely and utterly worth it. What a joy it is.

Whether it’s singing in the shower, or in the car, or in a choir, or at school, or at karaoke, or in a place of worship, or to an unsettled baby, or at a sporting event, or even in your head, it doesn’t really matter. Wherever you do it, singing is amazingly good for you.

If you want to sing, then do it. If you want to dust off your old instrument and start playing again, then do it. If you want to start learning an instrument, then do it. Don’t let anything that anyone has ever said to you stop you from making music and wonderful memories. Do it.
